Online courses
At the moment there are two types of online courses offered - ‘online classroom’, which are asychronous (i.e. you don’t need to be online at any particular time of the week - all the material is uploaded at the start of the week and you can read/write/think etc in your own time) - and ‘Zoom’ sessions, which are live-video (i.e. you have to be there). Zoom sessions are not recorded - they’re interactive, rather than lecture-style, and responsive to the group participating on any given day.
Booking
Online courses can be booked through this website, at the relevant course page. The secure payment system used is Stripe. Payment must be made in advance.
Cancellation policies
The ‘online classroom’ courses are designed to work even if very small numbers have signed up for them - they can go ahead even if just one person has signed up.
With Zoom courses, sometimes there aren’t enough people signed up to make a course viable - in those instances you’ll receive a full refund as soon as the decision is made.
If you have signed up for a course and wish to cancel, you will be refunded your fee minus a 20% adminstrative charge. If the course has already begun, it is not possible to provide a refund. If you miss a session (or assignment), it is not possible to provide a partial refund.
Deadlines and end dates
With ‘online classroom’ courses, there are deadlines each week. Feedback will be provided on all assignments turned in during the course, though late work will likely be looked at a little later (i.e. if you send in Week 1 late, it may be looked at in the Week 2 batch). All assignments are designed to stand alone rather than you needing to wait for the previous week’s feedback to move forward.
A final ‘last chance to get work in!’ reminder will be given once the last deadline has passed. After this time, it is not possible to provide feedback on late work.
With Zoom courses, these often include an element of submitting work for feedback over email. After the final session, there will be an email with a ‘last chance to get work in/ask questions’ reminder/deadline.
I’m always delighted to hear about past workshop participants’ writing successes and general news, but please don’t send me work for feedback beyond the parameters of a particular course or mentoring agreement - it won’t be possible for me to provide that for you.
